The Friends of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to assisting the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge in its goal of enhancing wildlife and its habitat. The Friends encourage public use of the Refuge through educational, interpretive, scientific, and other activities appropriate to the mission of the Refuge.

National Wildlife Refuge System

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge lies in the Hill Country just west of Austin Texas. The Refuge is intended to preserve a significant portion of this magnificent Texas Hill Country to protect nesting habitat for two critically threatened songbirds – the Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo.
